Okay, I have a confession. I’ve had this blog in my head and heart for about two years. I’ve started it over and over, but when I read what was on the page I decided it wasn’t good enough to share with you. So I deleted it and started over…again.
Then I had a heartfelt discussion with a beautiful friend who is also a counselor and she asked me why I hadn’t published my blog yet. That question reduced me to tears. I couldn’t bring myself to share my heart because I thought it wasn’t good enough. But she helped me remember that THAT is the whole point of this site.
Being perfect isn’t an option. If it was, Jesus would never have had to leave paradise and put on skin. He wouldn’t have needed to come and heal the sick and the broken. He wouldn’t have needed to come and teach us to love one another and to pray for people who hurt us. He wouldn’t have had to suffer the beatings and the crown of thorns and the cross. We wouldn’t have needed Him to come to us…but we did need Him and He came.
I’ve learned some very important lessons on my journey and He’s called me to share them with you. They’re messy and ugly, but they’re also beautiful and full of love. One of the most important lessons God has taught me is that I’m not the only person who needed to be redeemed and neither are you. He also showed me that if we hide stories of our pain and brokenness the enemy wins, because we can’t share the redemption without the pain. I’m not going to give him that power.
One of the enemy’s biggest lies is to convince us that we’re the only one who ever “sinned our sin” and that sharing our story will only damage our reputation and make us weak. The truth is that all of humanity needs redemption and God can use our stories to reach others who have been in our place.
This site exists because God has taken me on a journey that started with my own past and led me to so many who know desperately that they’re not perfect. We’re redeemed because He’s perfect. We may have been damaged and broken, but now we’re forgiven and redeemed and that wouldn’t be possible without Him.
I’m going to publish this site and it’s not going to be perfect and that’s okay. It’s going to be the best that I have to give you, from my heart and I hope that it blesses you and inspires you to share your story too.
Love and Prayers,
Mikki
